Mobile Internet has the ability to quickly end, and often this is ridiculous: OS X will install updates, Transmission will download new series, iCloud synchronizes a couple of hundred megabytes of photos and now the monthly limit has not happened.

It is not realistic to track the launched application, for this it is better to get this task by a special utility. TripMode at power-up gives access to the network only to selective programs.

How does TripMode work?
By default, most programs are blocked, and access is allowed only to popular browsers and instant messengers. To unlock or block a program, just remove or put the checkbox next to its name.

The most interesting thing is that TripMode remembers the networks in which it was activated and the next time it will do it for you automatically. That is, connecting to a Wi-Fi network of a particular coffee house will be a signal for TripMode, that you need to save traffic and drop all the 'tails'. What you need to save VPN traffic, or if you use your iPhone as an access point for a laptop.

Version 2.0.1:
Profiles: TripMode 2 can now adapt its Internet access settings per network or situation, to make sure that only the apps are relevant to the user. E.g. Only allow you to get the most out of your mobile phone with the help of the Mobile phone's hotspot.
Data limits: ability to automatically block traffic when reaching a pre-defined data limit. No more surprises. Limits can be configured to be reset every day / week / month, to match the user's data plan.
Enhanced apps sorting: new apps sorting options enable easy identification of the applications that try to access the Internet. Culprits can not hide anymore.
Accessibility and localization: TripMode 2 was designed with accessibility in mind. It supports VoiceOver and events sound notifications for visually impaired users. The UI is now localized to match the user's system: English, French, German, Chinese simplified are supported. More languages will follow.
Lots of enhancements: the app has also been completely rewritten and has snappier UI, stronger data blocking, and reduced CPU / memory usage. It is still just as simple to use as the initial release. Review the release notes over here.
